Parish Transformation celebrates the gift of our parishes in the Archdiocese of Chicago by making our parishes stronger and more effective in fulfilling the mission that Jesus has entrusted to his Church. he ultimate goal of the Parish Transformation process is to learn new ways of looking at the parish life, to adopt new pastoral and fiscal practices where it is advantageous, and to initiate an ongoing review and refinement of the mission and vision of the parish at regular intervals.

The Parish Transformation process, required by the Archdiocese, began at St. Symphorosa in January, 2013.  The result of the Parish Transformation process was a strategic plan that included specific actions, goals, and timelines that we as a parish want to accomplish. The archdiocese provided a facilitator (at no cost to the parish) to guide us through the process.  The meetings were held on Thursday evenings for fourteen weeks.  A leadership team was formed to complete this process.  Parishioners also were invited to the meetings and had the opportunity to take an online survey regarding our parish interests and goals.

Seven building blocks were the focus of the transformation process.

  • Evangelization

  • Catechesis

  • Prayer and Worship

  • Communion

  • Missionary Spirit

  • Call to Holiness

  • Spiritual Stewardship

Through examination of these building blocks, we developed a ministry plan for St. Symphorosa which was approved by Bishop Andrew Wypych in July, 2013.    Since the initial approval of our parish Transformation Plan, two subsequent meetings have been held with Bishop Wypych to provide an update on our progress.    In addition, when Cardinal Cupich visited our parish community to celebrate our 90th Anniversary in early October, 2017, he was also given an update on our progress.

Currently, under the leadeship of our Pastor, Fr. Idzi Stacherczak, the following individuals comprise our Transformation Team: Kathy Calcagno, Tom DeRose,  Lara Hess, Linda Kline, Mary Lou Kolasinski, Ray Kolasinski, Ceil Kucinsky, Jeannine Lascola, Barbara Pudelek, Arlene Wilus, Larry Wisniewski and Monica Wodke.
