Penance and Reconciliation: The Sacrament of Healing
Reconciliation involves the discovery of love. God always forgives.
Determining the age at which a child should begin regular reception of this sacrament is primarily the responsibility of the parents. Children should have opportunities to witness and experience forgiveness from parents, family and friends. In this way, children learn to understand and accept God's loving forgiveness.
Preparation for the Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation will take place in the 2nd grade. Please note that the Archdiocese of Chicago requires two years of formation before a child receives the sacrament. Therefore, parents should enroll their children in a parochial school or parish religious education program in the 1st grade to meet the basic requirements.
In addition, our Parish offers the opportunity for Confession/Reconciliation by appointment only at this time.
We prayerfully, sensitively welcome young people who seek the Sacrament of Peace in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. In addition, it is one of the great joys of our parish family to welcome young people to the Table of the Lord in the reception of Holy Eucharist.
